Who can use Beacon?

Beacon is for University of Houston students. Sign up requires a @uh.edu or @cougarnet.uh.edu email address.

I can't log in — what do I do?

Tap "Lost your keys? 🔑" on the login screen to reset your password. A reset link will be sent to your UH email. Check your spam folder if you don't see it within a few minutes.

How do I delete my account?

Open the app → Profile tab → scroll to the bottom → tap Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, events, messages, and all associated data. The action cannot be undone.

My push notifications aren't working.

Go to your device Settings → Beacon → Notifications and make sure notifications are allowed. In the app, check Profile → Notification Preferences to confirm pings are enabled. If issues persist, try signing out and back in to re-register your device.

How do I report inappropriate content?

On any event page, tap the ⋯ menu and select Report. You can also email us at beacon.app.support@gmail.com with details and we'll review it within 24 hours.

I got a share link but the app isn't opening.

Make sure Beacon is installed on your device. On iOS, you may need to open the link in Safari (not an in-app browser) for the deep link to work. If the app is installed and it still doesn't open, tap Open in App Store on the preview page and then re-try the link.

I created a beacon but nobody can see it.

If you chose Soft Launch, your beacon stays private until enough friends accept your invite. Share the invite link with your crew and it'll go live once the threshold is met. For Friends Only beacons, only people with your invite link can see it — that's by design.
